Billy J. Gooch, 74, of Nashville, formerly of McMinnville, died Sunday, Aug. 25 at the Bethany Health and Rehab Center in Nashville after an extended illness.He was born in McMinnville on Oct. 14, 1938, the son of the late Audrey Idell (Clark) and Lester W. Gooch of McMinnville. He was a maintenance worker and an automobile mechanic over 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army as a private in the Korean War era.He is survived by a sister, Diannia L., and husband Danny Barnes of McMinnville; brother, Jimmy P., and wife Linda Gooch of McMinnville; three sons, Richard, Jessie, and Tommy of Nashville; two daughters, Angie and Jessica of Nashville, several grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester W. and Audrey Idell (Clark) Gooch; one sister, Helen (Gooch) Foutch; two brothers, Lester W. Gooch Jr., and Gary Gooch.Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Barnes officiating.
