McMinnville resident and Cannon County native Billy Austin Banks, 84, was born March 20, 1938 and died March 28 at Willow Branch Health and Rehabilitation in McMinnville following an extended illness.   

A design engineer and member of Ivy Bluff United Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Herman Robert and Lora Alice Robinson Banks. He was married to Sylvia Jean Martin Banks of McMinnville on Nov. 10, 1962. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Bobby Neil Banks and sister Glenda Gay Haley.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Banks is survived by three nephews, Bobby Dennis Banks of Franklin, TN and Douglas Allen Haley and Michael Hebert, both of Nashville, niece Lisa Haley of Nashville, sister-in-law Joan Banks, brother-in-law Billy Floyd Martin, nephew Michael Martin, niece Christie Martin and great-nephews, Peyton Martin, Mason Martin, Devan Smith and Noah Smith.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 1, at Armstrong Cemetery in Warren County with Roger Brown officiating. No visitation or service will be held at High’s. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
