Betty McBryde Brady, 72

Betty McBryde Brady, 72, of Monticello, Ga., died Tuesday, Jan. 7 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born in New Albany, Miss., on Jan. 15, 1941 to Lee E. McBryde and the late Richard O. McBryde Sr. At an early age she and her family moved to Memphis. After a brief courtship, she married Tom M. Brady of McMinnville in February 1962 and they started their marriage in Augusta, Ga. They moved to Monticello in 1963 when Dr. Brady began his dentistry practice.
Mrs. Brady taught second grade at Hephzibah School in Augusta and Monticello Elementary. She was active in her community where she served as a Jasper County Library Board member, Courthouse Renovation Committee member, elections poll worker, Red Cross blood drive volunteer, and Monticello Garden Club member. She served on the Monticello Housing Authority Board for 35 years.
Mrs. Brady was a faithful servant of Monticello Presbyterian Church for 50 years. Her hobbies were gardening, preparing flower arrangements, playing bridge and duplicate with friends and playing tennis with her ALTA Senior Leagues where she served as team captain for 15 years. She enjoyed trips with her tennis friends to play and watch tennis. She traveled to Wimbledon, the U.S. Open and the Family Circle.
Mimi, as she was known to her grandchildren, traveled throughout Georgia to watch her grandchildren play ball and tennis, cheer, run track, dance, and perform in plays. With great pride and joy, she shared the accomplishments of her grandchildren with her many friends.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving husband of 51 years, Tom M. Brady. She is survived by her 98-year-old mother, Lee E. McBryde of Memphis, children Kim (Jay) McMichael of Monticello; Andy (Sonja) Brady of Watkinsville; Scott (Traci) Brady of Monticello; and grandchildren, Brady and Brandi McMichael, Sydney and Drew Brady and Mack, Owen and Harris Brady; brothers, Richard (Donna) McBryde Jr. of Memphis, John McBryde of Crested Butte, Colo.; and sister, Charlotte (Ricky) Cooper of Cordova, and sister-in-law, Geraldine Ritchey of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Monticello Presbyterian Church, 246 E. Washington Street, Monticello, Ga. Interment will follow at West View Cemetery, Westview Street, Monticello, Ga.  Rev. Rindy Trouteaud will officiate.

Thomas Norman Theiss, Sr., 77

Thomas Norman Theiss, Sr. was born May 24, 1947 and went home to be with Jesus on Friday afternoon, March 28, 2025. He was born and lived in Michigan for 45 years and then moved to McMinnville, Tennessee for the last 32 years.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Donald and Caroline Filipowski Theiss; brother, Donald Theiss and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Eula Presley.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 51 years, Glenda Marie Presley Theiss; children, Susan (Mark) Long, Brandy Perez, Cindy Hale, Gwendolyn (Richard) Holt, Tammy Norma Theiss, and Tommy Norman Theiss, Jr.; grandchildren, Sean, Gabriel, Jaylen, Gavin, Tommy Ray, Hannah, and Diane; great-granddaughters, Lea and Luci; sisters, Cheryl (Butch) Galyon, Lorry Cantrell, Debra Prokoff; brother, Larry (Carolyn) Theiss; many sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, serving the Lord as well as playing games with the children, cooking and eating wild meat. He really enjoyed his church family at Peoples Pentecostal Church, where he faithfully attended.

Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Peoples Pentecostal Church with his pastor, Michael Hewell and Jay Young officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday 2 p.m. until 7 p.m., Monday 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Tuesday 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. al visitation at Peoples Pentecostal Church.
