McMinnville resident and Grundy County native Bessie “B.D.” Tate Wanamaker, 88, was born Aug. 19, 1923 and died Sept. 11 at River Park Hospital following a sudden illness.A homemaker and member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Bessie Morton Tate Sr. She was married to Conard Wanamaker, who preceded her in death Feb. 8, 1989. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bradley Matthew Wanamaker.She is survived by eight children and their spouses, Iris and Herbert Walker Sr., Mike and Joyce Wanamaker, Jim and Maxine Wanamaker, Ricky and Floressia Wanamaker, Johnny Wanamaker, David and Ella Wanamaker, Bill and Nelda Wanamaker, and Donna and Ricky Simons, all of McMinnville; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Mildred Tate of Cookeville.A graveside service and interment was held Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County with Anthony Wanamaker and Jeff Hill officiating.High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.Southern Standard (McMinnville, Tenn.)
