Audrey D. Redmon Knowles Russell, 89, was born on June 17, 1931 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 3, at the Webb House Retirement Home in McMinnville where she was residing.
She was the oldest child of Charlie Roston Redmon and Lorene Slatton Redmon, who preceded her in death. Audrey grew up in the Indian Mound community of DeKalb County. Her most precious memories were of attending church at Indian Mound The Baptist Church where she had been a member since 1946 and attended all her life. Audrey was married to Eston Knowles on Feb. 11, 1950 and were married for 58 years until his death in 2008. She helped her husband in Eston Knowles Reality for over 40 years. They lived and raised their three sons in Sparta and Smithville. She was later married to Tom Russell of McMinnville in 2009 until his passing in 2017.
Audrey is survived by her sons, Levoy and Teresa Knowles of McMinnville, Terry and Pamela Knowles of Murfreesboro, and Chuck Knowles and Amanda Gibbons of Nashville, grandchildren, Bryan and Samantha Knowles of Knoxville, Andy and Chelsea Knowles of McMinnville, Ashley and Hayden Campbell of Nashville, and Caitlyn Knowles of Clarksville, step-grandchildren, Paige and Austin Gaskell of Murfreesboro, and Peyton Manis and fiance Chase Roberts of Murfreesboro, Madison Bailey, Anna Marie Bailey and Kaitlyn Bailey of Panama City Beach, Fla., stepchildren, Cynthia and Rayburn Pedigo and family, Melissa and Joey Livesay and family, Tony and Angie Russell and family, great-grandchildren who were such a joy to her, Parker and Kinsley Knowles, Beckett, Lawson and Lake Knowles, sister Charlene Pickett and brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Sherry Redmon, sisters-in-law Ruth Redmon and Louise Knowles, special aunt Gladys Stephens Luna Prater. Audrey has many nieces, nephews, church family, the Webb House family, and friends who survive.
Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husbands, Eston Knowles and Tom Russell, her parents, infant brother, James Calvin Redmon, brother and his wife, John and Imelda Redmon and Royce Redmon, sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Herman Prater, brothers-in-law and wife, Jesse Lewis (Chester) and Linda Knowles, B.P. (Dick) Knowles.
The family would like to thank the Webb House in McMinnville for their kind and helpful care of their mom, Audrey for the past few years. Also, to Avalon Hospice for the kindness and care shown to her in her last days. The family has a special thank you to Dr. Hugh Don Cripps of Smithville for his tireless medical attention to our mom through the years.
Officiating at the service will be Bro. Frank Randolph, pastor of Indian Mound The Baptist Church and Bro. Johnny Adcock.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 6, at 11a.m. in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial to follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Indian Mound The Baptist Church in memory of Ms. Audrey.
