Anna America Locke Duke, 95, a McMinnville resident and Warren County native, was born Jan. 19, 1918 and died Nov. 7 at The Health Center at AdamsPlace in Murfreesboro following a short illness.She was the daughter of the late A.J. and Marcie Lee Sparkman Locke, a retired commercial radio engineer and member of Northside Baptist Church.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband of 60 years, Walter A. Duke on Feb. 24, 1998; sisters, Floal Delaney, Eula Bryant and Ella Louise Locke and brothers, William Ned and Otis Eugene Locke.Mrs. Duke is survived by son, Michael (Hilda) Duke of McMinnville; daughter Shirley Duke Haerle of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren, Christian Haerle of London, David Haerle, Los Angeles, Calif., and Michael (Kate) Duke Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; great-granddaughter, Fiona Duke of Cleveland, Ohio; three sisters, Roberta Bell of Springfield, Pauline Holmes of Nashville, and Mary Lou McCollum of Nashville; two brothers, John V. (Virginia) Locke of Greenbrier, and Jack H. (Carol) Locke of McMinnville; four step-grandchildren, Dana (Monte) Mullican, Steve (Sharla) Hillis, Lee Ann Hillis and Andrea Bruno; five step-great-grandchildren, Michael Lynn Mullican, Callie Bruno, Terann Hillis, Emma Hillis and Lucy Hillis. Many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family also survive.Service will be 2 p.m. Monday in High’s Chapel with Dr. Jimmy McCollum, David Haerle and Michael Duke Jr. to officiate. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.
