Warren County High School fashion design and merchandising class presented its Winter Holiday Celebration Fashion Show recently at the school.
The class is a specialized course designed to introduce students to the world of fashion, and is taught by Suzanne M. Prater.
“The areas of study in the class include fashion fundamentals, principles and elements of design and career options and preparation,” said Prater.
The models wore gowns of their choosing based on their knowledge of color schemes, how to use illusions in fashion effectively, and how to use the elements and principles of design to enhance body shapes.
The students decorated the auditorium stage to resemble a winter wonderland with snow scenes featuring both spiral and evergreen trees, reindeer and snowmen providing a lovely backdrop for the formal wear presentation provided by Kathy’s Formals. Tailor Fitts served as the mistress of ceremonies, and intermission entertainment was provided by students Griffin Winton and Lucy Haston.
Many students worked behind the scenes doing make up and hair for the models, organizing the fashion review and providing music for the show.
Approximately $460 was raised from admission fees, and will help the class raise money for the school-wide project, Petey’s Project. The mission of the project is to create health, education and well-being opportunities for children of Warren County, and may include field trips, parent and child programs and adaptive/handicap accessible playgrounds.
