Walker, Jones marry in Smoky Mountains

Sandie LeAnn Walker became the bride of Gregory Lee Jones June 1 in an intimate outdoor ceremony. The couple wed in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on the bank of the Little River, with Sandy Tracy of Radiant Gatherings officiating the 6 p.m. nuptials.
The bride is the daughter of Jimmy and Dot Walker. Her grandparents are the late James and Linnie Belle Walker, and the late Haskell and Zelma Myers of Viola.
Mr. Jones is the son of Mike Jones of Cedartown, Ga., and Jerri Fletcher of Deer Park, Texas.  He is the grandson of the late Luther and Marie Pittman of San Antonio, Texas, and the late Arthur and Gladys Jones of Poteet, Texas. 
The bride chose a floor length gown featuring a strapless embroidered bodice and embroidery and ribbon embellishment on the skirt.  She carried a simple nosegay of roses and assorted flowers and greenery. 
Following their ceremony, the newlyweds enjoyed dinner at Blackberry Farm in Walland. After a few days there, they traveled to Exuma, Bahamas for their honeymoon. 
The new Mrs. Jones is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, earning a MS in teacher education. She is currently employed with City Schools of Decatur.
Her husband earned a BS in environmental sciences from the University of Georgia, Athens. He is employed with Southern Company. The two are making their home in Decatur, Ga.

Rob Nunley photo The Morrison Elementary Cheerleaders won both the school sponsored division and the people's choice award at Saturday's McMinnville Christmas Parade.

The McMinnville Christmas Parade was held Saturday, featuring 107 entries and lasting approximately one hour. Winning in the business category were Ben Lomand Connect, first place; Prater's BBQ, second. 

Church/civic group/community organization/large non-profit winners were Warren County Sheriff's Office, first; The Vine Baptist Church, second; and Smartt Assembly of God, third. 

School sponsored winners were Morrison Cheerleaders, first place and people's choice award winners; Motlow State Community College, second; and F.C. Boyd Christian School, third.

Small club/non-profit winners were Girl Scout Troop 839, first; Ride N Drive Club, second; and McMinnville Saddle Club, third.

Horse rider club/mule or horse and hitch winners were Saddle Club, first; and Bruce Bush, second.

Antique car winners were Ride N Drive Club, first; Ryan J. Moore, second; and Frank Bond, third.

Most Unusual Vehicle winners were Ride N Drive Club, first; Donald Schott, second; and Tom Davis for Congress, third.

Winning the best band category was the Warren County High School Marching Band.
