Vietnam vets to be honored

An event to honor veterans and to educate the public will be held March 30 at Coffee County Fairgrounds. Activities will start at noon, and will include various entertainment including the Ultimate Oldies and WannaBeatles. 

The Vietnam-Era Veterans Honors Day and Fair will feature displays, including the Vietnam exhibit Toy Soldier Project, art displays and vendors. Guest speakers will be presented throughout the day, as well as informative demonstrations. 

Food will be available for purchase, as well as shirts and assorted Vietnam items for veterans. Medical screenings, claims processing and other services will be provided by the Tennessee Veterans Healthcare System. 

Operation Gratitude will be collecting items for our military community. Some of the items needed are all-purpose wipes, AA or AAA batteries, deodorant, drink mix, gum, hand warmers, lip balm, playing cards, puzzle books, travel size sunscreen, socks, shower shoes, underwear, and the list goes on. The event is open to the public, admittance is free, as well as parking. The fairgrounds are located at 99 Lakeview Drive, Manchester. The day is sponsored by VFW Post 10904, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90, American Legion Gold Star Post 78 and Sequatchie Valley Veterans Honor Guard.
