The FCE (Family Community and Education) clubs had their annual International Day event on May 18 in the Magnolia Room of the Warren County Administrative Building. Antarctica was the country chosen for the annual event which included a cruise ship theme.
Upon entering the Magnolia Room, members registered and received their “passports” for the cruise ship.  The Bonner club was in charge of room decorations. Group pictures were taken of each club in front of a mural of sea and icebergs with a life ring stating the FCE Cruise Ship.
Members enjoyed a mock champagne drink upon arriving to their dining table. They also snacked on goldfish and Life Savers prior to the lunch. The luncheon featured covered dishes by the members of food items expected to be found on a cruise ship.
Following the meal, guest speaker Delanie Sullivan, who has been on a cruise to Antarctica, entertained the group with a slide show presentation of pictures she took while visiting the continent. She shared her experiences of visiting this area and presented interesting facts such as only one percent of the world population visits the area.
She also shared information about penguins who live on this land. Penguins mate for life and they have one to two babies per year. The male and female share in taking care of the egg and the babies.
She encouraged members to take a cruise to Antarctica if ever given the opportunity. Following her presentation, door prizes, which were also table decorations, of washcloth animals were given away.  The unique gifts were made by the granddaughter of Brenda Blessing. The fun and informative event was enjoyed by everyone.
