Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is an organization at Warren County High School that provides personal growth, leadership and career opportunities to students. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers and communities.
The local WCHS group is led by educators Suzanne Prater, Ragan Hardy, Connie Bell and Joann Barnes. The active members organize and implement numerous projects throughout the year, with two very important ones coming up.
FCCLA “Warm Hearts, Helping Hands” is collecting child-sized belts, socks, underwear, toboggans, hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, and body soap) and non-perishable food items/snacks. The project is led by Ashlee Myers and Cailin Trapp, and will be collecting items now through Feb. 28.
Contact Prater at 931-668-5990, Ragan Hardy, Connie Bell, or Joann Barnes at 931-668-5858 to donate items or have items picked up. Items can be dropped off in the provided drop box at Warren County High School, Security Federal Savings Bank, McMinnville Electric System, Save-A-Lot, Southern Standard or the Chamber of Commerce. Items collected will be donated to our local elementary school guidance counselors for distribution to their students.
Another project, “GRL PWR,” is led by Grace Winton and Evelyn Cerda. They hope to encourage and empower young women, while improving their self-esteem.
The members of the high school FCCLA chapter will be holding workshops at Warren County High School for girls in grades 5th-8th (ages 10-14). A teacher/advisor will be present at each workshop, and attendees will participate in fun activities while earning to improve self-image.
The workshops will be held on the following Saturdays from 1:30 - 3 p.m.:
• February - 11 and 25
• March - 4 and 18
• April - 1 and 15
• May-13 and 20
