Second Saturday is coming up next weekend and just in time for the holidays.
Second Saturday is a shopping extravaganza that happens on the second Saturday of the month where downtown shops and businesses stay open later and live music takes center stage. The event will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.
Several downtown shops will be having their Christmas Open House that same night. Renewed Creations will be holding Christmas Delights that night. The goal, according to business owner Jennifer Bond, is to bring shoppers the magic of Christmas while also serving light refreshments. Renewed Creations is located at 213 E. Main Street.
Evelyn Taylor Avenue will also be having its Christmas Open House that night. Owner Penny Jones invites shoppers to come “mingle and jingle” from 5 to 9 p.m. There will be giveaways all night at this Christmas event, as well as different sales throughout the evening. Some of the giveaway items will include handbags and wallets.
“We always have good giveaways,” said Evelyn Taylor Avenue manager Jackie Brown.
Other participating shops include: Lemon, Linen and Grace, Wink Skincare Studio, Southern Traditions, The Vintage Market, Red Door Kids, and The Crouch House.
Restaurants participating are: Cumberland Biscuit Co., Topz Metro Deli, Collins River BBQ, Kimmi’s Tea Room, and Begonias Restaurant.
Two duos will be performing live music. The first duo is Gene Maxwell and Joe Collier, and the second duo consists of David and Tristan Hillis.
The late-night downtown shopping experience was originally scheduled to end in the summer, but it proved so popular organizers extended it. The next scheduled Second Saturday is Dec. 11.
