A man who reportedly shot himself in the head, and then led lawmen on a chase which ended with his slamming into a tree, will serve a year in jail.The suspect, Christopher Tyler Young, 25, of Rock Island entered guilty pleas before General Sessions Judge Larry Ross to charges of reckless endangerment, evading arrest and DUI. He was directed to serve 75 percent of an 11-month, 29-day term, lose his driver license for one year, attend DUI school, and pay $1,109. His sentence here will be served in addition to time he faces in Van Buren County.According to McMinnville police investigator Todd Rowland, Young shot himself in the head with a 40-caliber handgun sometime during the afternoon hours in an apparent suicide attempt. His failed suicide came after he reportedly fired some other shots nearby where other people were present prompting reckless endangerment charges in Van Buren County, where the incident occurred.Relatives showed up at River Park Hospital a short time later, expecting to find Young under treatment.
