A Woodbury woman who fought officers at the hospital, punching one with a handcuff flailing from her wrist, will serve a month in jail. The woman, Gina Elaine Lowe, 37, entered a guilty plea before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to assault on an officer and was ordered to serve 30 days of an 11-month, 29-day sentence and make $400 restitution to the jailer who was injured in the brawl.According to the warrant against Lowe, she had been taken to Saint Thomas River Park Hospital for treatment of drug withdrawal symptoms. She had been examined and corrections officer Sherry Bailey was getting ready to take her back to the jail since she was in custody on other charges at the time of the examination.“I attempted to place leg shackles on her and she became angered and began to curse, shout and be disruptive in the emergency room area,” Bailey recalled, noting the situation escalated quickly. “I tried to place the handcuffs on her while she still tried to resist.
