Wilson attacks clerk over beer

A man faces felony assault charges for attacking a store clerk after he refused to take a personal check for beer.The suspect, Eric Dwayne Wilson, 34, will appear before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke next month to answer to the aggravated assault charge. The count carries three to six years in prison.Wilson was arrested after an incident at the Morrison Marathon station on Manchester Highway. According to sheriff’s investigator Travis Thaxton, Wilson came into the store wanting beer but didn’t have the cash to pay for it.“He selected a six pack of beer which he took to the counter and produced a personal check,” Thaxton said.
