BELLS, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities have charged a young West Tennessee woman with first-degree murder and aggravated rape in the death of her boyfriend's young daughter.

Molly Jane Roe is accused in the death of 17-month-old Maleeya Marie Murley, who died Saturday night at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, according to The Jackson Sun.

An police affidavit states the 24-year-old Roe threw the child on June 7. Doctors found head injuries and severe bruising of the child's pelvic area.

The child's father is Phillip Murley Jr., who police say was not involved in her death.

Roe is being held without bond.

Bells Police Chief Ilandis Smith said Tuesday there is no indication Roe yet has an attorney.
