A major water line break at the intersection of Old Smithville Road and Highway 70 Bypass is not being blamed on the cold.“I don’t think it was the cold because that water line is between six and seven feet deep,” said Water Department director Paul Williamson. “It being buried that deep, the cold shouldn’t have affected it. More than likely it was traffic vibration it being across the intersection like that.”The 6-inch water line erupted at approximately 5 a.m. Thursday morning creating a problem for motorists as water spraying across the roadway quickly froze.
