Voucher bill not expected to impact local schools

School Board members are discussing the possibility of losing students if Gov. Bill Haslam’s voucher program, now before Tennessee lawmakers, is approved.The bill would allow parents to move the state and local tax dollars allotted for their children’s education to pay tuition and fees at private schools. However, the proposed legislation is limited to the bottom 5 percent of schools in the state.
