Warren County High School softball coach David Upton resigned from the job Monday morning after more than a decade leading the Lady Pioneers.

Upton will continue as a WCHS teacher and also be involved in the WCHS football program.

Upton becomes the fifth head coach to leave a WCHS sports program this school year. Other departures have been in football, boys and girls basketball, and boys soccer.

“We wish David the best of luck in the future,” said WCHS athletic director Todd Willmore. “At this point, no timetable has been set to replace David. We will post this position immediately and begin accepting applications.”

Three of the five coaching vacancies have been filled. In addition to softball, boys soccer remains open.
