A 53-year-old man was killed in this Saturday afternoon crash

A 53-year-old Warren County man was killed Saturday afternoon when the vehicle in which he was a passenger pulled in front of another vehicle traveling on Sparta Highway.

Killed was Troy Reynolds, who was a backseat passenger in a 2020 Buick Encore driven by Arlene Oakley, 84. Oakley was airlifted.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 2:50 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Old Rock Island Road and Sparta Highway. The Oakley vehicle was traveling on Old Rock Island Road and was attempting to make a left onto Sparta Highway to head outbound toward Gribble's Landing.

However, in making the turn, the vehicle pulled into the path of a 2012 Dodge Caravan driven by Warren County resident Heavenly Magness, 26. She was heading inbound toward McMinnville and traveling at highway speeds.

The Magness minivan struck the Encore directly on the driver's side of the vehicle, causing significant damage. According to the Highway Patrol, there wasn't much time for Magness to brake as the vehicle pulled directly into her path. She was not seriously injured.

The Saturday afternoon crash comes after two men were killed Friday night on New Nashville Highway at its intersection with Pigeon Hill Road.
