MCMINNVILLE, Tenn. — Viola Fire Department is offering a Middle Tennessee Pullers Association truck and tractor pull this Saturday, May 10. The event begins at 7 p.m.
Featured will be eight sanctioned classes through MTPA and one non-sanctioned class that is open to anyone who has a street pickup, farm tractor, diesel truck or antique tractor.
“If you want to pull it, bring it,” said Joey Grandy, one of the event organizers. “We’ll run our eight classes. If anyone wants to bring their truck, antique tractor or school bus, they are more than welcome to do that. All you have to pay is $10 to get in and $10 to hook.”
The sanctioned classes will include a 11000 Hot Farm, 9300 Super Farm, 8500 Light Pro Stock, Big Block Hot Rods, LLSS Tractors, 5500 Super Stock Trucks, 6200 Pro Stock 4x4 Trucks.
There is a threat of rain in the forecast. Grandy says all organizers can do is hope a downpour doesn’t strike.
“The ground is pretty dry at this time,” Grandy said, when asked about any rain concerns. “The track has been sealed over and we will probably wait until Saturday to uncover it. This is our first pull of the season and everyone is looking forward to it. All you can do is hope we don’t get a really heavy rain.”
The event is a fundraiser for Viola Fire Department. Tickets are available at the gate: $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 years, and free for children 5 years and under. Concessions will be available.
