Viola Valley Homecoming’s tractor pull has been rescheduled for this Saturday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. The event was postponed Aug. 10 due to rain.
“It should be a really good pull,” said Viola Valley Commission president Trent Prater. “That’s what we’re shooting for. They have some of the guys from the original pull coming.”
When the pull was canceled Aug. 10, event organizers had hoped to reschedule. However, they were unsure if they could and when that would be.
“We did get it rescheduled sooner than we thought we would,” said Prater. “We thought it would be the end of October or early November. Hopefully, we won’t be rained out this time. It’s still kind of muddy down there, but we are hoping that clears up.”
There will be three tractor classes and four truck classes, as well as two classes that will be open to the public. Open classes will include a pro diesel truck class, with a prize of $500 for the winner, and a farm stock class with trophies for first, second and third places.
“The only difference between the pull we had originally scheduled and this one is that this one is not a Middle Tennessee Pullers Association-sanctioned pull,” said Prater. “It will have some of the same pullers because the association is pulling in Georgia and the guys don’t want to travel that far.”
Gates open at 5 p.m. Concessions will be available. Admission is free for children age 5 and under, $5 for children age 6-11, and $10 for everyone 12 and over.
