The much-anticipated basketball rematch between Warren County High School and Van Buren County has been canceled.

The boys and girls games, scheduled to begin tonight at 6 p.m. at WCHS, have been called off due to weather, according to WCHS athletic director Todd Willmore. The announcement was made Monday at 1:30 p.m.

Willmore stressed the games have canceled, not postponed. Both WCHS teams are scheduled to play Thursday night in the district tournament in Cumberland County. The girls play Cookeville and the boys play Coffee County.

The WCHS gym is being used Tuesday night for the elementary basketball tourrnament.

The cancelation puts a halt to the big rematch between the Pioneer boys and Van Buren County. The first meeting, in Spencer, ended with Warren County walking off the court in overtime before the game was over.

The decision also cancels Pink Out Night, which is a big fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
