Truckers passing through the Nursery Capital were met with a surprise inspection Thursday when the Highway Patrol’s mobile inspection station rolled into town.“Sometimes they will bypass weigh stations on the interstate so the mobile inspection station allows us to inspect trucks in a more rural environment,” said THP special programs director Kent Norris as he stood inside the large mobile station parked in the Three Star Mall parking lot Thursday morning. “This vehicle can also be used as a command post in case of disaster or emergency. We have secure communication links, as well as a mobile weather station on board.”Norris said any vehicle weighing 26,001 pounds or greater is subject to inspection.
