A man who killed his cousin and dumped his body into the Collins River will serve the rest of his life behind bars.The defendant, Chad Thompson, 34, sat stoically at the defense table Wednesday afternoon as Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley sentenced him to life in prison for the murder of Tracy Martin, 38. Thompson was directed to serve 100 percent of his sentence, meaning he will be in his 70s before his first chance of release. Life at 100 percent is not the same as life without chance of parole, the latter literally meaning the inmate can never be considered for early release.His sentence comes for his conviction in January on charges of first-degree murder and facilitating especially aggravated robbery.
