Thief tries to snatch morphine

A man who had just gotten a prescription for morphine filled was able to fend off an attacker outside the pharmacy and keep his medication.The incident happened Monday morning outside Sullivan’s Hometown Pharmacy at Northgate Center.There were eyewitnesses to the attack and police are currently looking for a 5-foot-11 white male, who is approximately 30 years old with brownish blond hair.According to McMinnville police, Anthony Luna, 54, was the man attacked outside the pharmacy. Luna was inside when the attacker approached him and the two had a conversation.It was as Luna was leaving the store the man ran up and tried to grab his morphine. Luna was reportedly knocked to the ground in the attack, but he was able to keep the thief from taking his prescription.“We don’t know if the suspect overheard what Mr. Luna was getting at the pharmacy, but they spoke to each other and the man knew what he wanted when Mr. Luna left the store,” said McMinnville investigator Nicole Mosley.In addition to an eyewitness who got a good look at the suspect and is trying to place him, the suspect lost his shoe in the scuffle.
