Tennesseans for the Arts has announced a call for art to design the next specialty license plate in a contest titled, “State Your Plate.” The contest is open to all current Tennessee residents and submissions will be accepted until Oct. 15.The winning design will be available for sale to the public with 100 percent of the proceeds directly benefiting the arts in Tennessee. Specialty license plates and tags already have a strong tie to the arts, with 40 percent of their sales going to the Tennessee Arts Commission, which then disseminates those funds to arts groups across the state.“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for anyone – teachers, plumbers, lawyers, students or professional artists – to showcase their work across the largest gallery in the state: the road,” said Jonah Rabinowitz, president of Tennesseans for the Arts.
