Throwing flower pots off a balcony will cost a teen two months of freedom following a domestic dispute.
The young man, Timothy Saylors, 19, entered guilty pleas to charges of reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, vandalism, simple assault and violation of probation. He was directed by General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to serve 70 days of a six-month sentence and must undergo a drug and alcohol assessment.
Saylors was arrested after police were dispatched to Westside Manor on a disturbance call. When they arrived they found the victim clutching a knife, standing in her doorway. She put down the knife as police began to take Saylors into custody. However, the youth resisted the officer and had to be forcibly cuffed and placed in a chair.
That’s when police heard the story of what reportedly brought Saylors to the victim’s door that evening.
“She stated Mr. Saylors came to her door and thought his girlfriend was inside being killed,” said Police Sgt. Paul Springer, noting the reason for his suspicion was unclear and no one was being killed inside the apartment. “She was not going to let him in so then he went to throw her flower pots over the rail where other people could be walking.”
Not wanting her flowers destroyed, the woman came out of the apartment and tried to stop him from throwing the pots over the balcony onto the concrete below.
“He grabbed her and pushed her into the wall and then hit her in the face,” Springer said, noting four or five flower pots were broken.
