A burglar who was on probation has been charged with burglarizing and torching a neighbor’s home on Forest Drive.The suspect, Christopher Allen Howell, 18, is charged with aggravated burglary, felony theft and arson. Police say he rendered a confession to his father after committing the crime and then his father turned him in to authorities.According to McMinnville police detective Stuart Whitman, Howell’s father said his son came into the house carrying some items. He asked his son where he had gotten the property.“He stated he had broken into a house,” Whitman said of the conversation between father and son.As they were talking about what to do about what the teen had done, they heard a noise outside and went to investigate.“The father observed his neighbor’s house on fire,” Whitman said, noting the father then stated, “Oh my God, that house is on fire.”The teen reportedly then responded, “Yeah, I did that.”Detectives say the house was a total loss.
