Teacher tenure bill sent to governor

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Senate on Thursday gave final approval to Gov. Bill Haslam's proposal to make teacher tenure more difficult to obtain, sending the measure to his desk.The GOP-controlled chamber voted 21-12 to agree with minor House changes to the measure, a major part of the new Republican governor's education agenda."Gov. Haslam is extremely pleased that this important piece of legislation is now on its way to his desk," spokesman David Smith said.
