Tanner jailed for stealing

Stealing knives from a hardware store will cost a Rock Island man a year in jail.The shoplifter, Marcus B. Tanner Jr., was ordered to serve an 11-month, 29-day sentence in its entirety and pay $411 for theft.His sentence comes after management at Morrison Hardware reported several pocket knives had been stolen by two shoplifters. A review of surveillance video revealed them to be Tanner and Ronda Turner, the latter of which will have her hearing Aug. 9 after her bond was increased Tuesday due to a violation of probation being filed after her theft arrest.Tanner was pulled over and one of the stolen knives found during the traffic stop. More of the knives were recovered from the residence of Ms. Tanner.
