Register now for the inaugural SunDrop Sizzler One-Mile Run/Walk in honor of Dr Pepper Bottling Company. The race will be held June 8 at 6 p.m. in conjunction with the opening concert for Main Street Live.
“With last year’s Downtown after Dark 5K during Main Street Live being such a success, it seemed logical to add another run at the beginning of the series,” said Blaine Wilcher, who is organizing the run with Main Street McMinnville.
Awards will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers. Water, bananas and SunDrop will be provided. SunDrop Sizzler shirts will be given to every participant.
“We are going to give everyone the opportunity to get a T-shirt,” said Main Street McMinnville executive director Carla King. “Those registering in time will be given a shirt at the race. We will have to back order the late registrations.”
The one-mile race is in honor of Dr Pepper Bottling Company and all it does in sponsor sporting events and races in Warren County. Wilcher is a strong supporter of sports, running and SunDrop.
“I have always wanted to try a one-mile run here,” said Wilcher. “With running continuing to grow in popularity, one-mile runs are becoming more common as well. With SunDrop being my favorite drink, I thought this was my opportunity to have my SunDrop run and drink one too.”
Runners will need to meet in Exchange Furniture’s parking lot, located across the street from where Main Street Live is held.
Forms can be obtained from the Main Street McMinnville office, McMinnville Civic Center, online at www.mainstreetmcminnville.org, or just prior to the event. The registration fee is $15.
