CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) â Police have arrested a Tennessee firefighter after they say he robbed a convenience store in Chattanooga.

Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner says in a news release that 27-year-old Steven Ratledge has been placed on leave without pay following his arrest Sunday on a charge of aggravated robbery. Ratledge has been a firefighter for three and a half years.

According to a police report, officers responded to a call about a robbery at the convenience store. The officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle wreck shortly after responding to the robbery.

The vehicle involved in the crash matched the description of the one used by the robbery suspect. The report says further investigation led police to arrest Ratledge.

It wasn't immediately clear if Ratledge has an attorney.
