Teen charged in fatal shooting in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Memphis police say a teenager has been arrested after a woman was fatally shot and two other people were wounded in a downtown shooting.

Media outlets report the shooting occurred at 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers found an 18-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified her as Myneishia Johnson.

Police say a 19-year-old man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and a 23-year-old man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

A driver was later stopped and police charged 19-year-old Kwasi Corbin with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, and employment of a firearm during a dangerous felony.

Several church congregations held a march Sunday to protest recent violence in Memphis.
