GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Police in Tennessee are trying to identify the person who killed a 12-year-old girl in the Nashville area.
Local news outlets report an autopsy confirmed Yhoana Arteaga was killed the evening of Aug. 10 inside her family's Goodlettsville mobile home.
Police say Yhoana's mother had lunch with her daughter around 12:30 p.m. the day of the incident. She received a text from Yhoana around 5:30 p.m. saying that someone was knocking on the mobile home door.
Yhoana was found dead by her family at 6:45 p.m.
Police say the girl suffered blunt force trauma to her body, and that her clothes were in disarray.
Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron says that so far there have been few tips in the crime. Investigators hope scientific testing will help develop meaningful leads.
