MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A 20-year-old man is facing an attempted murder charge in connection with the beating and robbery of an ice cream truck driver.
News outlets report that the driver crashed into a wall at a Memphis apartment complex July 26 when a man jumped inside the truck and started assaulting him and demanding money. The driver says another man then joined the first attacker in kicking him, with one of the men also hitting hit him with a baseball bat. They stole $480 and fled.
An affidavit says 20-year-old Dontavious Curtis was arrested Monday night. He faces multiple charges including attempted first-degree murder.
Nineteen-year-old Dontevious Stewart was arrested last week and charged with being an accessory in the attack.
It is unclear whether either suspect has an attorney.
