NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities say a Nashville man has been charged in a human trafficking case involving a missing 12-year-old Texas girl.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says in a news release that 36-year-old Tavarie A. Williams was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking for a commercial sex act.
TBI agents say they received information Friday about the whereabouts of the child, who was reported missing a month ago. Authorities found the girl at an extended-stay hotel in Franklin.
Officials say Williams was holding the girl against her will. TBI agents say Williams offered her a ride home in San Antonio, Texas but instead brought her to Tennessee for the purposes of commercial sex.
It isn't immediately clear if Williams has an attorney.
