JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) — A family member says that a Jackson woman died in a house fire while trying to save her child.

The Jackson Sun (http://bit.ly/20LsEkX ) reports Jackson Fire Department officials announced Friday that 36-year-old Jessica Walls, her 46-year-old stepfather Adalberto Hinojosa and her 12-year-old daughter Dana Marie Grady all died in the fire early Wednesday.

Hope Meeks — the sister of Joe Walls, Jessica Walls' husband — says her brother told her that Jessica was "selfless" and gave her life to try to save her daughter.

Meeks says Joe Walls was released from a hospital Friday.

She says two of Jessica Walls' children have been released from the hospital, but Walls' son, 17-year-old Luis Cordero, is still being treated for burns.

Fire Marshal Lamar Childress says the fire started in the kitchen and foul play is not suspected.
