Standard to go bananas Friday

What’s better than free ice cream?
Free ice cream and a chance to win $100.
You can find both Friday afternoon at the Southern Standard office at 105 College Street from 2 to 4 p.m. as the newspaper holds its annual Banana Day.
The newspaper touts the event as a way to go bananas, and hundreds of local residents agree. Since the Standard began Banana Day 11 years ago, newspaper employees have served no less than 500 banana splits each year.
If a free banana split won’t get you to visit the newspaper office, cold cash and discount subscriptions serve as extra incentives. All visitors can register to win one cash prize of $100, and one cash prize of $50 while enjoying their ice cream.
Subscriptions are heavily discounted for new customers. If you don’t have a current subscription, here’s your chance to get a one-year subscription for $56.50. That’s just 36 cents an issue to have the newspaper delivered to your box.
It’s just 38 cents an issue if you buy a six-month subscription for $29.50. And the price is only 46 cents an issue with a three-month subscription for $18.
Current customers can add three months for just $18.
Go bananas this Friday with a free ice cream treat, a chance to win cash, and the opportunity to buy a discount subscription.
