With three weeks to go before the qualifying deadline for many local offices, 89 people have picked up papers to run for the numerous spots up for grabs this year.Given the number of potential candidates, almost all seats up for election could be contested if those picking up papers end up qualifying to run. There are presently only a handful of races not being contested.One is County Clerk Lesa Scott, who has presently had no interest shown in running against her. Scott has already returned her papers and qualified to seek reelection.Trustee Darlene Bryant is also yet to see opposition.
