Second death from 50-car pileup

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Police said a second person has died from injuries suffered in a foggy 50-car pileup last week near Nashville.

One person died during the chain of accidents on Vietnam Veterans Parkway in Hendersonville last Thursday, but police said Monday that a second driver who drove himself to the hospital after the accident died on Friday.

Lt. James Lawson of the Hendersonville Police Department said a preliminary report indicates that 62-year-old James M. Ziegler died early Friday morning from his injuries sustained in the crash. Lawson said police are awaiting a medical report and did not yet know the type of injuries or the cause of the death.

Police said 28-year-old Paul Warren of Hendersonville died on Thursday after his car struck the back of a tractor trailer.
