Schools denied $1.2M grant

Warren County’s bid for over $1 million in federal money to help fund school resource officers in every school has been rejected, leaving the county with the prospect of footing the entire bill.“We completed an extensive application,” said Director of Schools Bobby Cox who was disappointed by the denial of the school system’s request. “We are still waiting for a copy of our review to find out why we weren’t selected.”The Safe Schools grant ranges in monetary amounts from $500,000 to $5 million. Warren County applied for a grant amount worth $1.23 million.The federal money is offered through a Safe Schools program aimed at improving campus safety.
