The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting roadblocks this Thursday looking for motorists who are driving without a license. The driver license roadside safety checkpoint is scheduled for Nov. 29 and is targeting Highway 287. The highway spans the county, looping around south from Viola and north to Rock Island. The exact location of the roadblock has not been revealed.According to Highway Patrol Sgt. Billy Prater, unlicensed drivers can be a menace to the highways since many do not know the laws of the road.“Recognizing the danger presented to the public by drivers who are under the influence and unqualified drivers, troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who violate the driver license laws of Tennessee.”In addition to checking for driver licenses, troopers will also be proactive in trying to identify drunk drivers who may enter the stop zone.
