Reserve spot for Relay for Life Survivor Dinner

The deadline is Tuesday to make reservations for the seventh annual Relay for Life Survivor Dinner.
There is no charge for the dinner, which will be held this coming Friday, May 9, at Westwood Church of Christ’s fellowship hall. Any cancer survivor is encouraged to attend with a guest.
“This is one of two things Relay does to honor cancer survivors,” said Jane Flatt, who is organizing this year’s event with Cindy Rogers. “The other thing is the survivor lap that takes place at Relay for Life, which is set for June 6.”
The Survivor Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Friday with doors opening at 6 p.m. Survivors in attendance will receive a free T-shirt and be eligible for several door prizes. The musical group Just Looking Around will provide entertainment.
Organizers say reservations must be made no later than this Tuesday so the caterer can know how much food to prepare and so they know how many survivor T-shirts to have on hand.
“It’s a fun, upbeat celebration of survivors,” said Flatt. She added while it’s uplifting to recognize those who have beaten cancer, that’s not the ultimate goal of Relay. “Our aim is to make sure we don’t have this disease anymore. Our hope is for future generations to work on another dreaded disease because cancer has been wiped out.”
The dinner is no charge thanks to sponsorship from Homeland Community Bank. Last year 180 people attended the dinner with Channel 4 reporter Terry Bulger as the guest speaker.
To make your reservations by Tuesday, call Flatt at 668-9537 or Rogers at 507-1422 ext. 246. If no answer, you can leave a message stating your name and the number of people who will be attending.
Reservations can also be emailed to flatt@blomand.net or crogers@homelandcb.com.
