Pumpkin people head downtown
Pumpkin People could become popular as they are popping up in Historic Downtown McMinnville. These people took their likeness from The Wizard of Oz, with The Scarecrow, Dorothy and The Tin Man on the yellow brick road from the 1939 classic. Pictured with the trio are Claire Brooks, 12, and Caroline Brooks, 14.
The classic movie “The Wizard of Oz” is offering a little whimsy at the corner of Main and Sparta streets during the month of October. Sisters, Caroline and Claire Brooks, constructed Pumpkin People for individuals to enjoy as they pass by.“It’s Halloween and it’s kinda fun,” said Claire. The sisters received permission from the property owner to utilize the empty lot on the corner of Main and Sparta streets for their Pumpkin People placement.“We thought everyone would enjoy them as they passed,” said Caroline.Similar to the classic movie, the man behind this curtain is the girls’ godfather, Jerry Stubblefield.
