McMinnville officials are moving forward with an ordinance regarding local pawnbrokers to participate in an online program. They added bite to those that fail to comply with a $50 fine and possible suspension of business license. The ordinance, as presented by McMinnville Police Chief Bryan Denton, encourages local pawnbrokers to participate in “LeadsOnline” and electronically report pawned items to the online program in an effort to help law enforcement catch criminals who pawn items out of town to evade detection. Safety Committee members approved the ordinance and sent it to the full board for its consideration.
