Property rights voters may be able to vote by mail

McMinnville property owners who live somewhere else and vote in city elections could be given the option to participate by mail, a measure that will be brought before elected officials April 22.Election administrator Donna Smith will be making a presentation before the McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen on the steps they must take to allow property owners the option to vote by mail and the financial benefits of that for the Election Commission.“I will be talking to the city board about allowing the McMinnville property rights voters to vote by mail,” said Smith. “The board has to pass a resolution in order for that to take place. This is something new for the city of McMinnville.”A property rights voter is someone who does not live inside the city but owns property there and can register to vote in city elections based on their property ownership.
