Program to tell signs of heart failure

This month’s Lunch and Learn session will focus on recognizing the signs of heart failure, a condition that effects 5.7 million people in the United States and causes 55,000 deaths each year.Heart failure occurs when the heart can’t pump enough blood and oxygen to support other organs. While a serious condition, it does not mean the heart has stopped.Renee Toban, nurse practitioner with Saint Thomas Health Heart Failure Network, will be the guest speaker. She will explain the condition, how to talk to a physician about heart disease, and the current management of heart failure.Diseases that damage your heart, including coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes, are common causes of heart failure.
