A female thief who went on a burglary spree will serve a year behind bars and could face a decade in lock up if she continues her life of crime when she gets out of jail.
The woman, Lisa Michelle Porterfield, 33, entered guilty pleas to charges of aggravated burglary and theft. She was ordered by Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley to serve 364 days of a 10-year sentence. She will also be required to perform 75 hours public service work as part of her plea bargain.
Porterfield was hit with numerous charges for various break-ins she committed both alone and with partners. Her burglaries included residential break-ins at residences on Oriole Drive, West End and Bybee Branch. She also stole a vehicle during her theft spree. Her favorite items of choice in her burglary spree were electronics such as televisions, camcorders, phones and dvds, although she did take a chainsaw during one break-in.
Porterfield, who had priors for theft, was linked with the crimes when she tried to pawn some of the items she stole. She was remembered by a pawn store employee because Porterfield “snatched” a $100 bill out of her partner in crimes hand as she was getting paid for some of the stolen merchandise she had just pawned. Her charges were doubled because she was hit with additional charges for selling stolen items to pawn shops while knowing they were not her property to sell.
