Clinging to a one-run lead with six outs to go, the Pioneer baseball team couldn't close out the victory.

Walker Valley rallied late to snatch a 10-7 victory Wednesday night at Warren County High School. The Pioneers still advance to the substate with the loss, but Warren County will have to play on the road instead of at home Friday night.

Walker Valley jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, but Warren County's bats came to life in the bottom of the second. The Pioneers hit the ball hard and forged ahead, 6-4.

After the big second inning, Warren County had a chance to build on that lead when the Pioneers loaded the bases with no outs. But two strikeouts and a grounder to short ended the inning with no runs scored. That turned out to be a big missed opportunity.

It was a 6-5 Pioneer lead in the top of the sixth when Walker Valley started hitting line drives to put the game away.
